Wednesday Night Post 8 Legion Game by Dan Hoblick KCCR Radio

The Post 8 Legion baseball team had a tough night in Spearfish Wednesday as they fell by a score of 19-9 in 7 innings. Post 8 would start the game on a high note as they scored 4 runs in the opening inning. Spearfish would answer back in the bottom of the first when they rattled off seven runs. In the third inning, Spearfish would score nine runs in the inning thanks to four Post 8 infield errors to make the score 16-4. Spearfish would add three more in the next inning to extend their lead to 19-4.

Post 8 found a rhythm in the later innings to negate the 15 run mercy rule as they were able to score three in the fifth. Austin Wagner would lead off the inning with a single then the next batter Alex Gray would drive Wagner home for 1 of his 3 RBI's on the night. Spearfish was held scoreless in the last two innings of the ball game. Post 8 would score two more runs in the sixth. Willie Welch led the inning off with a single and Alex Gray once again drove in a Post 8 base runner with a triple. Gray would come home in the next at bat due to a wild pitch.

Post 8 would drop the regional contest by a score of 19-9. Post 8 moves to 8-9-1 overall and 1-2 in region. Post 8 will travel east this afternoon for a 9 inning ball game at Mitchell. First Pitch is scheduled at 5PM.
