Post 8 gets 2 wins on Friday by Dan Hoblick KCCR Radio

Saturday, June 22, 2013
The Post 8 baseball team got back to their winnings way today in
dominating fashion. In game one of the Wayne Hauschild tournament Post 8
defeated Clear Lake by a score of 6-2. Cash Anderson was called upon for
the starting pitcher assignment. Anderson was dominant once again and
threw his second consecutive compete game, giving up no runs and
striking out seven. Offensively it was a strange day for both teams at
the plate. Post 8 scored six runs off of two hits due to several errors
by Clear Lake. Gage Curtis recorded the only two hits for Post 8 in game
one. Curtis also drove in a run. Post 8 used smart baserunning to score
multiple runs.

The second game of the day for Post 8 had all the makings for a tough
bout against Vermillion. Vermillion entered Post 8's second game of the
day with an overall record of 15-4. Post 8 was able to jump out early in
the contest with a 4-1 lead in the top of the third due to very costly
errors from Vermillion. Vermillion would answer back in the bottom of
the third. Post 8 committed 3 errors in the bottom of the inning on one
batting play that drove home three runs. The scored was tied at 4
through three innings. In the fourth the Post 8 erupted on the
scoreboard. Once again smart base running and timely lead to Post 8's
success. Post would score five in the fourth and four in the 5th to
inflict the mercy rule over Vermillion. Willie Welch would finish game
two with three RBI's. Alex Gray and Alec Norwick split time on the mound
and only allowed four earned runs.

Post 8 moves to with in one game of .500 on the season with a 9-10 record. Post 8
will battle Coon Rapids on Saturday morning at 1:30 PM. You can listen to
coverage on 1240AM Today's KCCR and todayskccr.com starting at 1:15AM.
