The Green Sox Update By Coach Goodman

Tuesday, June 24, 2014

The Pierre Green Sox won a double header in Miller by scores of 6-4 and 15-0 on Sunday.  The Green Sox record now stands at 7-5 for the season.  In the first game Camden Espeland pitched 5 innings to get the win with Josh Albright finishing the game.  The Green Sox broke open a tie game by scoring two in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.  Defensively our pitching was good giving up only three hits, six walks but we did commit six errors for the game.  Offensively Chase Bolte went four for four with two doubles and two rbi.   Stephen Rae, Sam Edman, Matt Pease and Tyler Scott also hit for the Green Sox.  In general our play was not sharp but it was a competitive game and the Green Sox took charge of the game in the late innings.

In game two the Green Sox finished the game in three innings by the 15 run rule.  Jesse Gates pitched three innings of effective baseball giving up one hit, one walk and striking out three.  The Green Sox collected 15 hits in the game with Will Ellwanger going four for four with two doubles.  Espeland, Bolte, Albright, Pease, Edman and Rae all had two hits for the Green Sox.  The Green Sox next games are in the Stephens Tournament this coming weekend.
