The Green Sox Report by Coach Goodman

Thursday, July 10, 2014

Pierre Post 8 Green Sox lost two games to Sioux Falls West at Harmodon by scores of 7-3 and 6-1.  The Green Sox pitching was good with both Sam Edman in game one and Will Ellwanger in game two going the distance.

Game one was close throughout with the Green Sox scoring one run in each of the first three innings and Sioux Falls West scoring four in the second inning , one in the fifth and two in the sixth.  The Green Sox only had two hits in the game with Chase Bolte and Slater Pauly each with one.  Pierre scored in the first and second innings with help of aggressive base running and errors by West.

Game two was also close with Sioux Falls leading one to nothing after five complete innings.  The Green Sox managed only four hits in the game with Camden Espeland, Josh Albright, Caelan Fergel and Bolte with one hit each.  The story of the game was inability to get hits at critical times.  Our pitching and defense was good overall but we seemed to hit the ball right at them. This time of the season pitching is better with less walks and the defensive is usually better putting an emphasis one timely hitting and offensive executive which we were not able to do.  The Green Sox record is now 7-14 for the season.
