SD-Canyon Lake advances to the Little League World Series

Canyon Lake represented SD in the Little League Regional Tournament and won,

So they will be going to be in the Little League World Series.

SD-Canyon Lake LL rolled over NE-Kearney LL 15-4 on Friday at Stokley Field after an eight-run rally in the fourth inning.

SD-Canyon Lake LL scored in the fourth on a single by Cooper Voorhees, an RBI single by Daniel Vigoren, a two-run home run by Blake Weaver, and a three-run home run by Dylan Richey.

The game was back-and-forth heading into the third, with five lead changes.

SD-Canyon Lake LL finally managed to grab the lead after a strong third inning. A sacrifice fly by Mason Litz scored Matthew Hegre and gave SD-Canyon Lake LL the lead for good.

Richey racked up five RBIs on three hits for SD-Canyon Lake LL.

Hegre got it done on the bump on the way to a win. He allowed one run over three innings. Hegre struck out four, walked one and gave up two hits.

Brandt Groskreutz lasted two innings on the rubber for NE-Kearney LL before the call to the bullpen. Groskreutz allowed four hits and five runs.

NE-Kearney LL answered SD-Canyon Lake LL's top inning with three runs of its own in the first. NE-Kearney LL scored on a wild pitch and a two-run double by Jaxon Worley.

The lead was SD-Canyon Lake LL's to lose after third inning. More runs came home on an RBI double by Vigoren and two singles.
