Pierre Green Sox games in Renner - Monday

Wednesday, May 28, 2014

Pierre Green Sox (VFW Minors Team) of 15-16 year olds lost two to Renner Post 307 JV at Renner Monday.  The scores were 10 to 7 in the first and 10 to 3 in the second.  Both games were competitive with a lot of early season mistakes and also good play.  Slater Pauly and Camden Espeland each threw three innings for Pierre in the first game.  Offensively the third inning was a big as the Green Sox scored five runs to close to within one run and make the score six to five.  The offense collected seven hits in the game with Matt Pease getting two hits along with two rbi.  Chase Bolte, Will Ellwanger, Sam Edman, Stephen Rae and Tyler Scott also collected hits.  The offense was also aided by ten walks in the game.  In general, Pierre pitching and defense was good and offensively our approach was sound.

The second game was much like the first.  We fell behind early trailing 5 to 1 after four innings.  Sam Edman and Will Ellwanger provided the pitching splitting six innings and both threw well.  Offensively Pierre was led by Pauly with who collected two hits with Bolte, Edman, Caelan Fergel, Rae and Espeland collecting one hit each. Our patience at the plate was also good in this game with the team collecting eleven walks.

These games were typical Teener games with some very good plays and a lot of mistakes both mental and physical.  The team overall hustled and displayed a positive attitude. We have a very competitive season ahead and need to continue working hard to improve our game.
