JR Mayer's big day not enough, as Pierre Post 8 14U Gray Sox loses 11-3 to Huron

JR Mayer did his best to will Pierre Post eight 14U Gray Sox to a win with a two-hit game, but Pierre Post eight 14U Gray Sox dropped a 11-3 contest to Huron on Tuesday at Kelley.

Bryce S recorded the win for Huron. He allowed three runs over three innings. Bryce struck out three, walked three and gave up five hits.

Chipper S, Jack M, Bryce and Daynon helped lead Huron. They combined for six hits and six RBIs.

JR took the loss for Pierre Post eight 14U Gray Sox. He lasted just two innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed five runs.

Huron stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the first, scoring four runs on two doubles and an RBI single by Chipper.

After pushing across one run in the bottom of the second, Pierre Post eight 14U Gray Sox faced just a 5-1 deficit. A sacrifice fly by Logan Meyer fueled Pierre Post eight 14U Gray Sox's comeback. Davis Anderson struck out to end the Pierre Post eight 14U Gray Sox threat.

Two runs in the bottom of the third helped Pierre Post eight 14U Gray Sox close its deficit to 5-3. An RBI single by Garrett Stout and an RBI single by Nick Wittler set off Pierre Post eight 14U Gray Sox rally. But, Bryce got Logan to fly out to end the inning.

Huron built upon its lead with six runs in the fourth. Jack's double got things going, scoring Matt. That was followed up by Chipper's single.
